Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, eyelids and eyebrows.  The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as "micropigmentation", "micropigment implantation" or "dermagraphics".

Permanent cosmetics procedures are performed using various methods, including the traditional tattoo or coil machines, the pen or rotary machine and the non-machine or hand method. The process includes an initial consultation, then application of pigment, and at least one or more follow up visits for adjusting the shape and color or density of the pigment.

Is Getting Permanent Makeup Painful?

Permanent makeup, permanent cosmetics, micropigmentation, and “semi” permanent makeup are the same procedure: a cosmetic tattoo. And, as such, a cosmetic tattoo utilizes needles to tattoo specialized pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. There is some discomfort associated with permanent makeup but when performed by a proficient technician, the discomfort should be minimal. People are individual and unique and have different tolerance to discomfort. Topical anesthetics are available for technicians and are very effective. Topical anesthetics used in permanent makeup are commonly formulated with lidocaine, tetracaine, benzociane and small amounts (in some) of epinephrine. The most challenging procedure is the eyelids.

Is permanent makeup really permanent?

Permanent makeup procedures are considered permanent because the color is implanted in the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, like all tattoos, fading can and does occur, so periodic color refreshing is needed.

How long does each procedure take?

The initial procedure will generally take up to 2½ hours. Touch-up procedures will take less time.

BOTOX INJECTIONS: Wrinkle Reduction

What is Botox?

Botox is one of the many trade names for the neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. The effects last about three to four months.

Botox is used for many things including:

1) Filling in wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines (11's) and forehead lines to make them less visible
2) Erasing smile lines around the mouth
3) It is used under the arms to control excessive sweating
4) Corrects crossed eyes
5) Helps to correct other deformities in various parts of the body
6) Botox is also helpful with many other non-cosmetic ailments such as back and neck pain and even some forms of depression.

Botox is administered without the use of anesthesia and it usually only takes a few minutes to do the procedure depending on what it is you are getting done. A fine needle is used to inject it into the skin.

Botox, used for COSMETIC reasons:

Botox is modern medicine’s gift to every woman. With no cuts, stitches, or downtime, it’s no wonder that Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure.

How does Botox work on face wrinkles?

Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox.

It is the best alternative to getting a face-lift. Botox can be used for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (11's), the forehead and the crow's feet at the corners of the eye. It is less invasive, cheaper and the results are instant. The average cost of Botox injections is 350 dollars to 500 dollars for every area you want treated.

It is a good idea to get a consultation before you have the procedure done so you know exactly what to expect.

Why do people choose Botox?

There are obvious advantages when compared to traditional wrinkle creams and serums. There is absolutely no doubt that it’s effective as a treatment for wrinkles that will last for several months.

What is the best age for botox injections?

It is best to start Botox before you have deep wrinkles. When you actually get lines or wrinkles that bother you, then Botox is a good thing.   It is for people from 30 to 55.
Legally,  it can be used in people age 18-64 with caution in anyone who is pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant or breast feeding.

Who Can Inject Botox?

Botox can be injected by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or registered nurse depending on what state you reside in. Different states have different regulations in regards to that state's medical board. Just make sure to whomever you choose for Botox injections that they have been properly trained, licensed, and advanced certified with a lot of experience in Botox.
How long after receiving Botox do you see the full benefit?

Most patients will see the results of their Botox injection begin to appear after 3 or 4 days and continue to improve until about two weeks, when the results are at their maximum. The effect will gradually wear off over the next 4 months or so.
